AEW Attendance perception
By Scott Keith on 3rd October 2023
I'm rooting for AEW to get on a more consistent and positive path of growth. Lotta good news still, lotta talent and tv time and great matches. Despite the builds, the ppvs just about always deliver. The ratings aren't a concern of mine and apparently they are doing great with viewership in other forms.
The attendance is an issue they really need to get on, even for the sake of tv. They did well darkening off the sections for Wrestledream and I wasn't looking for anything empty. But after the BD/ZSJ match and Edges debut, i started thinking something specific: With the exception of All In, These amazing matches, moments and debuts are being wasted in crowds that deserve to be at least 15k+. Now the crowd sounded great last night, and they definitely got there moneys worth, but i want to say AEW hit their attendance peak around the first Grand Slam and into All Out 2021 , and haven't grown the rate they should have been by now. Edge/Copeland coming out last night should have been seen on tv in a sea of a crazy crowd and flash cameras up to the rafters. But due to timing of the business of AEW, the latest reports is they didn't even sell up to around the 7500 they were setup for, and with more ppvs on the way, TK should be concerned that he can't even get above 10k for them.
