I happened to catch NXT this week for the first time in a long time, and I had forgotten just how good WWE is at booking their women particularly in NXT. Interesting storylines for multiple characters, and then an absolute BANGER of a match between Becky Lynch and Tiffany Stratton (who I had never seen before but who impressed the shit out of me).
I’m 99% certain you’ve been asked this multiple times, but who would you have book AEW’s women’s division to help it improve? Seems like there’s plenty of talent, but the matches don’t rise to the level of WWE’s, and the stories are lacking. How to get it on track?
I think the main issue is that they need an actual character that fans are invested in. That’s why they need to put the belt on Toni Storm. The idea of throwing out people doing matches isn’t going to sell. That’s why Willow was such a waste. She got over organically and then went right back to teaming with Skye Blue on Rampage and going 50/50 with Mercedes Martinez. Find characters, build stories around them. Pretty simple.
