Wrestling formula
By Scott Keith on 30 August 2023
Hey Scott,
I've been watching some Timothy Thatcher matches recently and was enjoying them more than I usually do. But I've noticed that basically every single Timothy Thatcher match has the same formula and the same moments and the same timing. So I ask you, how much does a wrestler being able to work multiple different styles matter to you? Wrestlers always use tried and true routines, and you see people hitting the same sequences with different opponents, but does that mean they suck? What do you think?
Wrestling is all about repetition and fans knowing what comes next and taking comfort in it. If Mario didn't jump the same way every time, it would ruin the game for a lot of people because you come to expect a certain rhythm and flow. The beauty is when this guys' set of moves meshes with that guy's set of moves and a great match results.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
