The Hard-Cam in wrestling

By Scott Keith on 22 August 2023

With the constant updates of ticket sales for AEW All In, it appears the stage & entrance will be utilizing the shorter distance of a football field than the more common football/soccer goal end of a stadium. Hard-Cam also appears to be at the goal end as well, but I can't confirm that with the seating chart, anything can change day of. And I would prefer to see the crowd in the background as opposed to whatever stage they have erected.

Having said that, i imagine AEW wants to show off just how big this crowd is on tv for anyone not there, and the Hard Cam plays a very important role in that. Do you have a certain hard cam you prefer in the case of a stadium show?

I'm such a sucker for how WM 3, 6 & 8 were shot. The way the camera was placed on lower rows so you didn't see the guardrails, just the tops of the audiences heads on the floor. it made the ring and wrestlers inside seem larger than life throughout. They have been using a higher angle on modern wrestlemanias and I gotta say, it looks too much like a raw or smackdown, that i really don't see the scope until a camera angle catches the giant stage or the height of the stadium from floor level.

I agree. They’re becoming adept at making stadium shows look like arena shows and it really hurts the special feel. Summerslam 92 LOOKED like a big stadium.
