Fantasy booking 1990 NWA
By Scott Keith on 15th July 2023
Hey Scott,
For the sake of this fantasy booking email I’m decreeing that someone gets in Ric Flair’s ear and convinces him to stay face for six more months:
Instead of the mess we got in 1990 NWA, what if Flair never turns on Sting and instead the first six months are built around Flair/Sting/Arn vs Luger aligning with the Midnight Express?
Then, after finishing the feud at the Great American Bash, THEN you have Flair and the Andersons turning on Sting building to Sting winning the title at Starrcade?
Or if this doesn’t interest you could we talk about if Montreal was a work or a shoot or a shoot that turned into a work or a worked shoot shoot shoot work?
Your views intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Honestly Luger was super-hot as a heel at the end of 89 and they could have gotten MONTHS of juice out of babyface Flair defending against heel Luger, to the point where they didn't even need to do the Sting turn until July. And yeah, giving Lex the Midnight Express as his backup is also a great idea, although I feel like they would need some kind of name for them, but there's not really any natural portmanteau you make from it. The Midnight Lugers? That just sounds stupid.
And Montreal WAS a work. Shawn clearly won 17 of 18 bellweather counties and all the voting machines were rigged by Venezuelan lizard people paid off by the Mexican cartels. It's just science.
