AEW – A “brand split” done right?

I was skeptical about the idea of Collision at first. Another AEW show? I wasn't a fan of that direction. I have to say though that I think AEW has handled it really well (bad ratings aside, which I don't care about as a fan watching every week).

I really like that instead of having a formal split (that isn't enforced well in WWE), and having an AEW World title for Dynamite and an AEW Unified Galactic Global title for Collision (or some other nonsense like that in the WWE vein), AEW has instead gone for a more informal, subtly felt thematic difference between the shows.

This week perfectly highlighted that. While it isn't veering off into disturbing Russo-levels at all, Dynamite had a tiny bit more of a sports entertainment style with the workout segments and birthday celebrations. Collision firmly had no-nonsense wrestling.

It really feels like CMFTR's philosophy of wrestling versus The Elite's, and I'm all for it continuing in this way for as long as it can.

I was skeptical of the first couple of episodes but now that we’ve got a definite direction for the show I like it a lot.
