Roman’s legacy
By Scott Keith on 6th July 2023
Good morning, Scott –
After watching MITB, I didn't realize until Cole or Graves mentioned it that Roman Reigns hadn't been pinned in 3 years. They also showed the still photo of him double stacking/pinning Daniel Bryan Danielson and Edge….and I don't remember that at all.
So my question is this – what is going to be the most memorable thing about Roman's….uh….reign? I know that WWE sacrificed Sami and Cody for the sake of “ONE THOUSAND DAYS AS CHAMPION!”, and that they want more contemporary names in the “longest title reigns
ever” list, so they certainly accomplished that.
But in 20 years, will Roman be remembered for this run? It's been very….repetitive with ref bump/Bloodline interference/Roman escapes in terms of matches. The Bloodline angle has been outstanding – but most of it has been “Jey Uso has a decision to make!”.
I'm not a WWE hater – but will a once-in-a-lifetime angle/story be enough for Roman to be considered for “best of all-time” conversation?
Obviously I love Roman but he’s clearly been withdrawing from active wrestling for most of the past year. I think what he does after he leaves for Hollywood and then comes back as a legend will determine his ultimate legacy.
