Hey Scott,
Apologies if you’ve addressed this before but just finished the Dark Side ep about Magnum TA. Looking back, do you think if the car accident hadn’t happened and he’d ended up World Champ, would the have dramatically altered the wrestling landscape of the 80s? Would Crocket, and by extension, NWA been more of a competitor for Vince and WWF? Or would things have mostly ended up the same?
Bonus question, would or did Vince have made a play for Magnum had he stayed healthy?
He was a great talent and absolutely would have ended up with the World title, but he wasn't like a generational star or anything. He would have slotted in well in Dusty's “Guy to occasionally get the title” spot in the main events and probably would have gotten a shot in WWE as well and made a lot of money. But not Ric Flair money. I could see him ending up in WCW as a member of the West Texas Rednecks or something years later.
