WWE going back to two World Titles has clearly been the plan for a while now.
It appears Triple H wanted to bring back the World Championship because of its legacy and ties to NWA/WCW. Thus, we have a WWE Championship going back to Buddy Rogers and a World Championship going back to Orville Brown (…I think).
My question is: Was this a better long-term play than having Cody beat Roman for the WWE Title, and having Roman keep the Universal belt (the one he's held for 1,000+ days)?
It's not ideal from a storytelling perspective IMO, but it reintroduces a World belt with more legitimacy than the Universal one.
Cody should have won the titles, full stop. Absolutely nothing that has happened since WM wouldn’t be better with Cody as champion and Roman angry about losing to him.
