The Acclaimed question

By Scott Keith on 24th April 2023

Good morning Mr. Keith. Hope all is well.

As much as I love AEW and hope they learn from their mistakes and continue to grow, prosper, etc. etc., there is one thing i agree in some ways with their harshest critics, including Eric Bischoff; Besides the World Title situations/feuds, they really seem to be fly by the seat of their pants booking with all talents involved. Honestly i don't think I would miss any storyline aspects if i skipped a week or two or just randomly starting picking up AEW now.

The biggest head scratcher is The Acclaimed. Hottest, if not THE hottest act in your company. Crowd & Merch included. I would have understood the Heatless Gunns win IF the payoff was them reclaiming the titles in Glorious fashion. But they just left that scene altogether. In fact, the Rampage taping/show immediately after the title loss, they got shoehorned into some 8-man tag that consisted of NO ONE they were dealing with. Now they just randomly pop up for a rap and a meaningless match. (Oh yeah and when did Jerrett & Jay Lethal turn face?).

If the idea is FTR/Bucks III at some point I understand that long term booking. But why scissoring isn't back on a weekly basis is mind boggling to me.

I think ultimately it’s just a thing that got over unexpectedly and they ran with it for a bit, but it didn’t fit into whatever the long term plan is. It happens all the time in wrestling and sometimes the guys are talented enough to fight through it and stay over at a high level. Hopefully that’s the case here.
