SNW v Lower Decks
By Scott Keith on 12th February 2023
For a Trek show that's been on the air for three seasons, I don't think you've mentioned Lower Decks much. But given that Strange New Worlds' writing staff is apparently (insane / brave / both) enough to try to pull off a crossover with an animated half-hour comedy show (announced last week)… have you watched LD yet?
I think it's got its heart in the right place, at the very least, and can occasionally be very good. Plotting's a bit sloppy, but certainly no worse than some of the live action shows. And some of the jokes REALLY land, like finding out what Riker's warp call is or the ongoing
Tamarian jokes playing off of Darmok.

At the very least it's some good news before Picard kills our childhoods yet again.
I have not yet watched, partially because I could never really understand who it was aimed at and partially because I hate Crave so much and try to avoid using it except when I’m forced to.
That being said, MAN that upcoming season of Picard is screaming “desperate AF”. I haven’t been spoiled as to whether they’re going to retcon Data back from the dead to complete the old folks reunion but it wouldn’t shock me at this point. The whole thing looks like a DX reunion on a Raw anniversary show at this point. The first season had a lot of excitement and intrigue and they just killed it off episode after boring episode of time travel nonsense.
