Scott,
Hope all is well
I was going back through you Coliseum Video rants from this past year and I didn't see one for the Best of the WWF Volume 13. Was this one not available or did I simply miss is being posted?
You may have missed it, but it was also filed under the wrong category anyway. I've fixed it.
And here's the full list of Coliseum Video reviews thus far:
I had been reading a couple of articles lately about the ratings for Raw back in 1999. The May 10th episode is the highest rated episode (8.1) in history as it was unopposed by Nitro that night. The biggest rating ever was the Austin/Undertaker (9.5)main event the night after the 1999 KOTR as it seems that just about every TV that was watching Nitro switched over to Raw as soon as Nitro went off the air to catch the main event. Seems like the “This is Your Life” Segment (8.4) in September of 1999 with Rock and Mankind has been touted as the biggest rating ever. Something to the effect to prove that talking segments and entertainment outdraw an actual wrestling match. Is one of the reasons it's talked about as the biggest rating ever, which we know it isn't is because it was the biggest rating the show ever got while being opposed by Nitro since the Austin/Taker match mostly took place after Nitro was over? Also seems like I remember the Rock/Shane cage match main event of the Raw after Backlash 2000 drawing a 9.1 rating or something like that which would also have beaten “This is Your life”.
Vince Russo is the one who touts “This Is Your Life” as the biggest because it made him look good, but you are correct, Austin-Undertaker blows away everything else. And I think the second-biggest was actually a random Eddie Guerrero v. Mongo match from an unopposed Nitro for a long time. Ratings are weird.
