No selling wrestlers moves?

If a wrestler feels another wrestler didn't sell their moves properly during a match with each other, do they start hitting them with stiff shots at that point? I seem to remember during an early season episode of “Tough Enough” when HHH told a trainee that poorly sold one of his punches that he would've hit him for real if he sold like that for HHH in a match.
I’ve certainly seen it happen.
