Scott,
I’ve always been curious how someone becomes the booker.
Usually it’s pretty obvious with TK and Vince being the owners of the company or Stu Hart owning Stampede. But how did Dusty get it for Crockett? Was it part of his deal to come in?
Different question and maybe you’ve done this.
After reading the rant on the 3/14/87 World Championship Wrestling you called Ronnie Garvin a great hot tag guy. Who would be the top 5? Rick Steiner has to be on it. Hawk? I think you’ve mentioned Dr. Death as well? Terry Gordy?
Dusty definitely was brought in as booker as part of his original deal. A lot of guys used to hang out at booking meetings and get groomed for the job in the old days and would move up from there. Barry Windham was considered Dusty’s main guy for example.
As for the hot tag guys, Garvin was great. Hawk is probably a solid choice as #1 if you put a gun to my head and made me choose. Hogan was INCREDIBLE when he was teaming with Edge in 2002. That team had some legs and I’m still sad that Hulk didn’t want to let it play out for a lot longer than we got. Jeff Hardy is an underrated choice I would say as well.
