Sting / Warrior championships

By Scott Keith on 17 November 2022

Scott,

Quick one : Which was more predictable – Sting flopping as World Champion (1990), Ultimate Warrior flopping as champion (1990) or Sting flopping as World Chamption (1997)?
Sting was predictable because Ole Anderson was booking and there was no viable challengers built up outside of the Black Scorpion.
On the other hand, Warrior was the guy who beat Hulk Hogan and was the champion of a juggernaut wrestling promotion while looking like something out of Vince McMahon's literal dreams. There should have been no way possible for him to fail.
As for Sting in 97, unfair to say he really “flopped” because he never got a real chance to run with the title and was immediately playing second banana to Hogan immediately after winning it.
