“The Rub”

What are some of the best, or lesser discussed, examples of someone getting “The Rub” by beating someone else?
According to HHH it doesn't exist, because no one ever put HIM over on the way to being a big star.
The thing is, though, usually you need to already be something of a star with a push behind you in order to take advantage of it. WCW used to have their doofus young guys get upset wins all the time, but there was no followup and it meant nothing in the long term. Hector Garza is the prime example of that. Or in the WWF, look at the difference in how 1-2-3 Kid became a bigger star after upsetting Razor Ramon and how PJ Walker did not become a bigger star after upsetting whoever it was he beat. IRS? The fact that I can't even remember says something.
