Resetting Vader in the attitude era

When the WWF reset their thinking in late 97, into what became of the attitude era, why didn't they try and do something different with Vader? With his skill set and mic skills, the Attitude era would have fit up his alley. Instead he was basically jobbed
out and left later in 98. Was there ever an attempt to bring him back to WCW after that or was that bridge burned?
Vader was always considered to be injury-prone and washed up in the WWF, and they were never going to get behind him with any kind of confidence. And yeah, the WCW bridge was completely burned. He was better off going back to Japan anyway and he actually had a career revival there.
