Was Triple H right about CM Punk?
By Scott Keith on 17th September 2022
We've spent the past 10+ years burying Triple H for burying CM Punk during the “Summer of Punk” angle. And while concluding the hottest angle in years (outside of The Rock's return) with a Triple H vs. Kevin Nash match still sounds absurd, recent events beg the question … was Triple H right?
Given what we've seen over the past few months, how do we think CM Punk would've reacted if he were handed the proverbial brass ring during the “Summer of Punk?”
Would he have imploded in a cavalcade of entitlement and self-absorption? Or was the recent blowup simply the final straw after years of feeling underappreciated, dating back to the Summer of Punk?
I don't think it's far to go back a decade and suddenly say that behavior in the present predicts behavior in the past. Punk was the hot hand in 2011 and should have gotten the chance to run with the title at that point, and instead he got shunted underneath HHH and Cena.
