Hello,
In regards to all the AEW drama right now, it's discouraging that the narrative seems to be that it's all Punk's fault & The Elite are being portrayed as the victims, when both sides should be sharing some blame for this situation.
Yes, Punk obviously handled this wrong with his outburst; that seemed like a bad combination of (by his own admission before) an abrasive asshole with a DGAF attitude finally hitting a breaking point on his frustrations. That said, if it's true that The Elite were spreading the gossip or leaks to the wrestling media, that's not acceptable either, especially for EVP's.
This isn't the first time we've heard of people having issues with how The Elite do business. There were reports/rumors that Cody was having business/philosophical disagreements with their views, but he took the wiser route & didn't blow up, instead leaving gracefully.
I don't know, I guess I'm just annoyed that how everyone frames it that everything Punk did in AEW was awful & had no merit because it looks like it's gonna have the unfortunate bad ending.
In a perfect world, a year from now when everyone is healed up, both sides could bury the hatchet & use this public heat to do the type of business Bret & Shawn never got to capitalize on. We will probably not know what actually happened until this investigation concludes, because until then, there's Punk's side, The Elite's side, and the truth somewhere in the middle…
Here’s my pitch: Get rid of the Elite and spend the money on Ospreay and Aussie Open, who are all younger and arguably better. If there is $10 left under the couch cushions get Jay White too. Then trade the rights to the Elite to New Japan as an exchange. Fine.
