Dr Death in the WWF

Hi Scott,
Dr Death's time in WWF was so brief and uneventful that highlights outside of his Brawl For All loss are hard to think of. Yet, he had an action figure made and appeared in WWF video games.
Was this *all* because of Jim Ross and his friendship/fandom? I realise sometimes things get planned out far in advance and can be hard to change once in motion, but it seems like he got more than was deserved.
