Heel and face assignments in feuds
By Scott Keith on 28th August 2022
To piggyback on the discussion of wrestlers who have been both heels and faces…. What is a feud you feel has worked regardless of the heel or face assignment (my top pick would have to be Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels since we saw every conceivable combination, followed perhaps by Edge vs. Randy Orton)? Conversely, what's the most significant departure of your enjoyment of a feud when the heel/face assignment change? My pick would probably be face Batista vs. heel Triple H was brilliant, while heel Batista vs. face Triple H was less than memorable.
Heel Sting v. Babyface Hogan in 99 was such a disaster that it literally got the bookers fired. Well not literally but you know what I mean.
For the other side, Hart Foundation v. Demolition managed to be a banger on both sides of the equation.
