Gorilla Monsoon question
By Scott Keith on 9th August 2022
Okay, you no sold my Gorilla Monsoon question from the other day, but I have another one to run by you/the blog regarding TV taping venues.
In the late 80s/early 90s WWF was running their loop of big venues like MSG, Boston Garden on a regular basis, and televising the cards locally/grabbing matches for Prime Time. What I’m wondering, considering they passed through MSG literally once a month until around the mid 90s, why didn’t they think to tape Superstars or Wrestling Challenge there? They were drawing good houses, but I don’t think it ever once happened. Even when they started scaling back the MSG stops, it took them all the way until 1997 to run RAW there.
Was there a reason behind this? This is what keeps me up at night…
Keep it in your pants, I'll post the Gorilla question tomorrow. DON'T MESS WITH THE METHOD.
Anyway, MSG is horrendously expensive to run, so I imagine it would have something to do with that. Plus places like MSG and Boston were very distinctive and they didn't like to advertise that shows were taped for weeks at a time, so I imagine they want to keep it special.
