Why AEW has lost me for now

9th June 2022 by Scott Keith
Rants

I hate to say it, but I'm tapping out from AEW for now.

The biggest problem is that the show feels like it's suffocating trying to balance wrestlers from AEW, ROH, and now New Japan.

OMG IT'S UNITED EMPIRE! THAT'S…..uh…..presumably some faction of some sort. I don't watch New Japan. I hadn't watched Ring of Honor since maybe 2005.
I get that this programming is more for the most hardcore of hardcore wrestling addicts, but would it kill AEW to introduce some of these guys ahead of time with video packages? Ospreay isn't exactly The Rock. I have no reason to care who he is as an AEW viewer.

Following from the first problem, we have way too many titles now. We have an injured World champion, an interim World title, a devalued TNT title, useless ROH titles, and now ANOTHER title with the All-Atlantic. I guess a trios title is coming too? Who *isn't* going to be a champion in AEW?

To top it all off, after exhausting Owen Hart tournament cold matches, we have another tournament and a match of random NJPW people (who, again, they're not introducing to people who are not Dave Meltzer) facing off against AEW and ROH people at this June PPV.

People in the comments will destroy me, but this just feels like a combination of InVasion-era titles galore mixed with cold wrestling from an EWR game.
Say what you will about the tournament overkill and title overkill, but you leave Will Ospreay out of this!
