Everybody knows vs nobody knows

CM Punk’s comeback was the “worst kept secret” and still blew the roof of the United Center and created an all time moment. Cody coming back at Mania was again the “worst kept secret” and still worked and was an amazing moment. Does this confirm that a surprise can still be awesome even if everyone already knows? I used to think the best surprises were ones NO ONE could have predicted but with that, sometimes you’d get nonsensical surprises like Alberto being Cenas mystery opponent in 2015 or Khali helping Jinder keep the title. Has wrestling truly done a 180 in the surprise return department?
