Opening Contest: The Legion of Doom (14-0) defeat Kent Carlson & Paul Perez when Hawk pins Carlson after the Doomsday Device at 1:36:
As the Legion wear out Perez, the Orient Express and Mr. Fuji say they have big plans for when they face them in handicap matches on the house show circuit. After the promo, Carlson tags in, eats a vicious clothesline against the buckles from Animal, and is finished with the Doomsday Device.
Gene Okerlund’s Update segment provides more Royal Rumblehype. New men added to the match include Randy Savage, the British Bulldog, Greg Valentine, Tugboat, Jimmy Snuka, Dino Bravo, Saba Simba, Shane Douglas, Butch, and Haku. It is also announced that WWF Champion the Ultimate Warrior will defend his title against Sergeant Slaughter, a surprising development since the Warrior is locked in a feud with Savage.
Kane the Undertaker (w/Brother Love) (1-0) pins Mario Mancini after the Tombstone at 1:22:
The Undertaker and Love do an insert promo, saying that more Tombstones await the roster. Mark Calaway is still in the feeling out process with the character, walking and working at a quicker pace that he would eventually settle on. The Undertaker still needs to work more on protecting his opponent for the finish as Mancini’s head hits the canvas hard.
There is a vignette for “The Mountain” Jacques Rougeau. It shows a man who is lost and trying to get to the United States. The Mountie explains that his horse’s face always points to Canada while its ass points to the U.S., thereby casting the character as a heel. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) would not be thrilled with that, eventually threatening litigation against the WWF.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan (33-1-1) pins Barry Hardy after the three-point stance clothesline at 1:46:
Duggan works his formulaic match as he issues a warning to Sergeant Slaughter that he will fight for the USA.
The Bushwhackers put over how they love the Gobbledy Gooker and lick him.
Power & Glory (w/Slick) (18-0) beat Ron Cumberledge & Rick Sampson when Paul Roma pinned Cumberledge after the Powerplex at 2:23:
In the split screen, Slick says that the Hart Foundation will soon find out why Power & Glory are a great team. There is nothing notable about the squash other than Power & Glory working a quicker formula than usual.
A replay of Ted DiBiase’s confrontation with Dustin Rhodes on the Brother Love Show on last week’s show airs.
Intercontinental Championship Match: Mr. Perfect (w/Bobby Heenan) (35-3) defeats the Texas Tornado (Champion) (16-0) after the Perfectplex at 6:36:
DiBiase pays off Howard Finkel, becoming special guest ring announcer for the bout. That allows him to interject himself several times into the match. The referee is dumped five minutes in, not able to count the pin when the Tornado blasts Perfect with the discus punch. DiBiase races in, hits the Tornado with the Intercontinental Championship Belt, and Perfect hits the Perfectplex to regain the title. Rating: **

The Last Word: It was beyond time to get the Intercontinental Championship off of the Texas Tornado, who was having bad matches and a less than stellar feud with Mr. Perfect. At the end of the show Vince McMahon dismissed the Tornado getting it back, saying that his sights would now be on Ted DiBiase, so that makes DiBiase’s primary feud with the Tornado more than the Rhodes Family. The Mountie might be a goofy gimmick but the heel side of the roster needs help and fans who had seen Jacques Rougeau work as a heel in Memphis knew he could do a good job in a singles role. Overall, this was a notable show because of the rare title change and buildup of new talent.
