Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan are in charge of the studio portion of tonight’s show.
Opening Contest: Koko B. Ware (12-5-1) pins Bob Bradley after the Ghostbuster at 4:04:
It takes ninety seconds for the two to lock up because Bradley opts to stall. He still insists on incorporating his awful backflip elbow and Sean Mooney questions what he thinks he is trying to accomplish by doing it. Ware eventually hits the Ghostbuster out of nowhere to win a bad match.
Mr. Perfect’s squash from Wrestling Challenge airs.
The Big Bossman (29-3) beats Chris Duffy after the Bossman Slam at 1:54:
In the split screen, Bobby Heenan gives an entertaining promo where he says that WWF President Jack Tunney’s requirement that he face the Bossman has ruined his holiday season. The Bossman achieves an easy win and handcuffs Duffy to the ropes after the match.
Earthquake (w/Jimmy Hart & Dino Bravo) (27-2) pins Mike Daniel after the Earthquake Splash at 1:00:
Earthquake’s act of putting jobbers in the hospital continues, but it is starting to get tiresome. After a hot SummerSlam program with Hulk Hogan, his momentum has stalled.
Jake Roberts (23-2) pins Scott Colontonio after the DDT at 1:32:
Roberts has to feel his way through the squash because of being blind in his left eye. Colontonio cannot take advantage and is quickly pulverized with Roberts’ favorite moves. After the match, Roberts dumps Damien on the jobber.
Demolition (w/Mr. Fuji) (6-1) defeat the Bushwhackers (25-1) when Crush pins Butch after a clothesline at 8:21:
This match took place at the new Wrestling Challenge tapings in Syracuse, New York. It is the first time that Fuji appears on-screen as the manager of the new two-man Demolition combination of Smash and Crush. For the purposes of record keeping, any future references to Demolition will be to them. These teams lack chemistry and only a handful of wrestling moves are used in the match. The best part is the finish where Fuji creatively uses his cane to trip Luke and stop a Bushwhacker Battering Ram attempt. That allows Crush to hit Butch with a clothesline and the Bushwhackers act like it is the Survivor Series in losing to a simple move. Rating: ¼*
The Ultimate Warrior-Ted DiBiase match from Main Event is shown.
Rick Martel’s squash from Wrestling Challenge airs.
The Legion of Doom’s squash from Wrestling Challenge is shown.
Battle Kat (2-0) defeats Boris Zhukov (4-6) with a Lou Thesz press at 5:01:
This match happened at the new Superstars taping in Rochester, New York, giving fans on tonight’s show the treat of seeing Bob Bradley twice. Bradley tries incorporating some cat-like mannerisms into the character, clawing at the camera on his way to the ring and later screeching like a cat when Zhukov chokes him. However, the ring work is a disaster because everything Bradley does is slow. Whether it is a backflip, a sunset flip, or a monkey flip, everything happens at five miles an hour when it needs to happen at fifty. Despite the problems, both guys do expend some effort to get the match over, trading near-falls by the end. The Lou Thesz press is an awful finisher, though, because it is just not conceivable that a person of Bradley’s size could pin someone of Zhukov’s size with it, especially with little setup. Rating: ½*
Tugboat’s squash from Superstars is the last match on the show.
Tune in next week to see the Barbarian against Battle Kat!
The Last Word: Like Superstars and Wrestling Challenge, this was a lifeless show. The wrestling was poor and the acts that the WWF is giving time to, like the new Demolition and Battle Kat, are dead on arrival with fans. It also does not help that the company is turning over the roster after Survivor Series so it is going to take time to phase in new acts to make up for the talent that is gone or that is on its way out.
Up Next: WWF Superstars for December 8!
