Make sure to vote for your nominations for the Doomies. Nomination poll closes on Sunday at midnight.
Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper are in the booth and they are taped from Toledo, Ohio.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan’s squash of Paul Diamond from Prime Time Wrestling starts the broadcast.
Gene Okerlund’s Update segment recaps how Rick Martel injured Jake Roberts on last week’s Brother Love Show. Roberts is shown at the ophthalmologist office, concerned about whether he will see again. He is given some eye drops as the ophthalmologist tells Roberts he will have to wait until next week to get news on how much his vision has been impaired. For his part, Martel says what happened to Roberts was a mistake and gives a half-hearted apology.
Demolition (5-0) beat Scott Colton, Earl Dennis & Brad Kramer when Ax pins Dennis after Demolition Decapitation at 2:54:
McMahon and Piper urge fans to write WWF President Jack Tunney and have Demolition limited to two members because that is how the group started. The Legion of Doom do a split screen promo say they refuse to run from a fight. After dispatching Dennis, Demolition do their finisher to the other two jobbers to send a message to the Legion.
Several young fans are allowed to come near the entrance set to touch the big egg.
Dusty Rhodes (16-1-1) pins Al Burke after the Polka Dot Drop at 2:06:
Before the match, Rhodes says that Ted DiBiase will pay his price in pain, blues, and agony. Rhodes uses strikes to wear Burke down and mocks the jobber’s begging off near the end, winning yet another match in 1990 with the Polka Dot Drop.
The Barbarian (w/Bobby Heenan) (17-0) pins Kent Carlson with the flying clothesline at 1:46:
The Barbarian easily rolls to an eighteenth-straight win, taking Carlson’s head off with a Mafia kick and flying clothesline.
Despite last week’s problems, Rick Martel still appears on the Brother Love Show and sprays the set before WWF Champion the Ultimate Warrior makes an appearance. The Warrior brings out a WWF duffel bag. He says that Randy Savage is still in hiding from him. The Warrior reaches into the duffel bag and pulls out a blonde wig, demanding that Love wear it. Under threat of violence, Love complies and is also forced to put on a pink dress. The Warrior rechristens Brother Love as “Sister Love” in a weird segment that did nothing for Warrior-Savage feud.
The Orient Express (w/Mr. Fuji) (20-1) defeat Ronnie Garvin & Major Yates when Sato pins Yates after a sitout powerbomb at 2:22:
In the split screen, the Bushwhackers eat Chinese food with chopsticks before deciding to eat it with their bare hands. They promise to chew the Express up like they are chewing up their food. Garvin to shine by doing the Garvin Stomp on Tanaka, but Yates gets blasted with a Sato side kick and finishes with the sitout powerbomb. The loss marks Garvin’s tenth straight defeat.
Okerlund does the Survivor Series Report. A new match signed features the Dream Team (Dusty Rhodes, Koko B. Ware & the Hart Foundation) against the Million Dollar Team (Ted DiBiase, Rhythm & Blues, and a mystery partner).
Saba Simba (3-0) defeats Black Bart with the Lion’s Roar in 59 seconds:
Piper is still critical of the Simba gimmick, arguing that getting back to his roots will not make Simba a better wrestler. Akeem and Slick pop up in the split screen and Akeem says he has the ceremony to show he is a true African. Simba uses a sloppy dropkick and reverses an Irish whip into the corner to set up the Lion’s Roar. Like Chris Duffy, Bart puts his arm out to bump for the finish for some reason.
To hype Saturday Night’s Main Event, Hulk Hogan and Tugboat promise to drown Rhythm & Blues. The Ultimate Warrior & the Legion of Doom tell Demolition that they had better be ready for a fight.
Tune in next week to see Koko B. Ware face Sergeant Slaughter! Also, Shane Douglas, Power & Glory, Intercontinental Champion the Texas Tornado, and the Legion of Doom will be in action!
The Last Word: Jake Roberts is doing some nice acting to build his feud with Rick Martel, balancing out the Ultimate Warrior’s insanity on the show. It is an open guess who Ted DiBiase’s mystery partner could be at Survivor Series, but whomever it is will be primed for a big role in the company because of the lack of prominent heels.
Up Next: Saturday Night’s Main Event XXVIII!
