Vince McMahon, who is wearing a hat that looks like a Hershey’s Kiss, and Roddy Piper handle commentary, concluding the tapings in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Opening Contest: The Legion of Doom (7-0) defeat Bobby Salsa & Ron Cumberland when Hawk pins Salsa after the Doomsday Device at 2:36:
The Legion of Doom work less of a blitz match style, going through the motions to stay undefeated. Hawk might have had some issues before the match as he forgets to roll Salsa over after the Doomsday Device to log the winning pin.
Gene Okerlund’s Update segment replays the Big Bossman handcuffing Bobby Heenan to the guardrail on Wrestling Challenge. Afterward, the Bossman promises to go after Rick Rude because he put Heenan up to mocking his mother.
Tugboat (21-0) pins the Conquistador after a splash off the second rope at 1:53:
The Conquistador wrestles himself for most of the match, bumping like a madman for Tugboat, who puts little effort into a hiptoss and clothesline. After the match, Tugboat gets on the house mic and tells Earthquake and Dino Bravo that he has Hulk Hogan backing him up. This lets Hogan come out, pose, and pop the crowd.
Power & Glory (w/Slick) (10-0) defeat Mark Thomas & Rico Federico when Paul Roma pins Federico after the Powerplex at 3:20:
In the split screen, Marty Jannetty promises that Shawn Michaels will return to the ring and the Rockers are going to win their war with Power & Glory. Piper does his best to put over jobbers on these shows since taking over but all he can say for most of them is that “They look like good athletes.” The squash is a slow beatdown as Roma and Hercules are limited from doing a lot of fun moves by their heel orientation.
Rick Rude (w/Bobby Heenan) (16-3-1) pins Glen Ruth after the Rude Awakening at 1:07:
Rude earns a quick win with few moves and afterward, Heenan says there was not a suitable fan to be found in the arena for him to kiss. This segways into a bit where Heenan calls the Big Bossman’s mother “ugly” and says he can say whatever he wants because Rude backs him up.
Dusty Rhodes is this week’s guest on the Brother Love Show after Rick Martel sprays Arrogance around the set. Rhodes is still wearing his voodoo-like costume of a black cape with red polka dots. He delivers a weak promo about how he has honor and integrity to keep the feud with Ted DiBiase going.
Sergeant Slaughter (w/General Adnan (2-0) defeats Sonny Blaze via submission to a noogie at 2:23:
Slaughter’s debut win was against Blaze at the beginning of the month. That was a bad outing and this one is little better, serving as an excuse for Piper to talk about how Slaughter should leave the United States if he does not like it. Nikolai Volkoff does a quick split screen segment, saying that Slaughter is a disgrace.
McMahon announces that Survivor Series will be taking place on November 22.
The Bushwhackers (20-0) defeat Pez Whatley & Scott Colantonio when Butch pins Colantonio after a double stomachbreaker at 1:37:
The Orient Express and Mr. Fuji do an insert promo about how the Bushwhackers do not have a sense of direction and the Express look forward to beating them up. The Bushwhackers get a Hogan-like pop for their entrance and they keep the comedy short en route to yet another win.
Tune in next week to see Randy Savage, Jimmy Snuka, WWF Tag Team Champions the Hart Foundation, Ted DiBiase, and the Big Bossman in action! Also, a wrestler named Battle Kat will make his debut!
The Last Word: For a Superstars episode this did not do a lot in terms of groundbreaking angles or storyline direction. The Hulk Hogan appearance was a fun bit for most fans, though, because Hogan rarely made in-ring appearances on syndicated television. And Dusty Rhodes looks checked out on his feud with Ted DiBiase, mustering the minimum amount of effort on the mic when he talked with Brother Love. His act does not seem the same without Sapphire.
