Lance Russell and Dave Brown are calling the action, broadcasting from the WMC-TV5 studio in Memphis, Tennessee.
A video package highlights Brandon Baxter’s issues with Jimmy Valiant.
Opening Contest: Brian Lee & Jimmy Harris (w/Brandon Baxter) (1-0-1) defeat Brickhouse Brown & Ken Raper when Lee pins Raper after Baxter interferes at 4:47:
Brown gets the short end of the stick today, but Raper is able to be less than a jobber in this match because he is paired with a more established star. Raper takes a beating from the heel team after Baxter trips him, but is able to make the hot tag after pulling off a fluke body press on Lee for a near-fall. In the ensuing four-way scuffle, Raper sunset flips Lee but Baxter comes in behind the referee’s back and nails Raper with his shoe, helping Lee and Harris prevail. Rating: *½
Vader’s appearance on the latest Mid-South Coliseum show airs.
NWA Tag Team Champions the Rock N’ Roll Express cut a taped promo against PG-13 and hype their upcoming match where Randy Hales and Mark Curtis will be dual referees.
USWA Tag Team Champions PG-13 respond, claiming that 1995 will be their year.
Non-Title Match: PG-13 (USWA Tag Team Champions) (23-12-2) defeat the Gambler & Gorgeous George III (0-2) when Wolfie D pins the Gambler after a J.C. Ice bulldog at 4:17:
Each of the losses the Gambler and George have had this year have been to PG-13. As the match progresses, Randy Hales defends the USWA’s honor against Smoky Mountain on commentary. An average match develops where the heels take control after the Gambler cheap shots Wolfie D. Ice gets the hot tag out of nowhere, with the Gambler trapping Wolfie in an O’Connor roll. That makes him vulnerable to a bulldog from Ice and Wolfie covers for the win. Rating: **
Russell interviews USWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Billy Jack Haynes. Haynes promises to keep instilling fear in the USWA after seeing some pre-recorded comments from Brian Christopher.
Non-Title Match: Billy Jack Haynes (USWA Southern Heavyweight Champion) (7-0-1) pins Mr. Clyde after a chokeslam at 1:31:
Mr. Clyde is a horrible wrestling name, but the character was a regular on USWA programming starting in 1992, working as part of a stable with Brian Christopher and Zeke Rivers. After losing his hair, Clyde returned as Ali Ben Khan from Saudi Arabia, and stayed with the promotion until 1994. Haynes squashes the long-time Memphis talent, yelling a lot about fear as he did so.
After the match, Haynes beats on Clyde with a chair until Christopher runs in and clocks Haynes with it.
Brian Christopher (24-11-4) beats Doug Gilbert (w/Brandon Baxter) (7-4-2) via disqualification when Billy Jack Haynes interferes at 4:55:
This is the fifth time that Christopher is wrestling Gilbert this year, with Christopher owning a 3-1 edge in the series. Like the opening match, it does not take long for Baxter to get involved as he trips Christopher when he runs the ropes and then chokes Christopher behind the referee’s back. Christopher fights out of a bearhug and hits the Tennessee Jam, but Hayes runs in and causes a disqualification. The match did not give Gilbert a lot of offense and his manager seemed to inflict more blows on the former USWA Southern Heavyweight Champion than he could. Rating: *¾
After the match, Bill Dundee tries to make a save but he is overwhelmed. Brian Lee, Jimmy Harris, and Jerry Lawler join the fray and the heels manage to stand tall at the end.
Scott Studd (21-9-3) pins the Yellow Jacket after a fisherman’s suplex at 3:24:
The Yellow Jacket usually gets more offense than other Memphis jobbers, a trend that continues here as he puts Studd on the defensive with some token arm work. Studd escapes a chinlock and goes on to finish with a nice fisherman’s suplex.
The Last Word: The USWA is doing a better job pacing its shows as no segment or act overstayed its welcome on this show. The Legend Slayers stand tall again for the second straight week on television, but they need to win more matches at the Coliseum to get more credibility.
The USWA had another strong attendance figure for the Mid-South Coliseum on July 3, drawing 1,400 fans due to an appearance by Sid Vicious. That was 400 fewer fans than the previous week, but still 300 fans above the promotion’s average. The results for the show were provided courtesy of prowrestlinghistory.com:

-Jerry Lawler, Brian Christopher, Bill Dundee & Sid Vicious defeated Doug Gilbert, Billy Jack Haynes, Brian Lee, Jimmy Harris & Brandon Baxter in a handicap stretcher match when Lawler pinned Baxter at 11:34
Backstage News*: Vince McMahon was not happy with Vader’s appearance on the June 26 Mid-South Coliseum show since he was only told about it a day beforehand. McMahon allows the USWA to use WWF talent but only if it does not overlap with the talent WCW is sending to the area.
