From the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY
Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Ted DiBiase
We first see the clip of Bob Backlund attacking Arnold Skaaland last week on Superstars then get challenged by Bob Holly.
Now, we see a clip of Paul Bearer freaking out Yokozuna last week on “Superstars” by wheeling out a casket.
The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer vs. Mike Bell
The announcers talk about the force of The Undertaker. Match starts with Undertaker beating on Bell as the camera zooms in on Bearer’s urn. Undertaker now uses a clothesline then takes Bell over the top rope with another clothesline. Undertaker heads out to roll Bell back into the ring as Gorilla teases DiBiase about Charlie Minn. Undertaker stays in control then uses the tombstone for the win (2:37). Gorilla then asks who can stop The Undertaker and does not think it will be Yokozuna, who DiBiase said could.
Thoughts: Lots of hype for the Undertaker/Yokozuna feud as their casket match has been the main selling point of the Hart Attack Tour. However, with this feud the exact same thing we saw less than one year ago its lost its luster to say the least. And speaking of The Undertaker, he wrestled Sid Vicious for the USWA Unified Title on October 17th that drew nearly 4,000 fans.
The IRS promo from Superstars airs.
Heavenly Bodies w/ Jim Cornette vs. Gary Scott & Rich Myers
The Bodies show off their new wings. The announcers talk about the Bodies/Gunns feud then IRS calling out Undertaker. Scott & Myers work the arm of Prichard to start. Prichard and Scott trade holds then Scott get a two count with a reverse rollup. Prichard clotheslines Scott then Myers tags in and hammers awy. Del Ray makes a blind tag and takes Myers down with a super kick. The Bodies stay in control then we get some wooden insert promo from the Smoking Gunns as they call out The Bodies. Back to the match as Prichard slams Myers then misses a few elbow drops. Scott tags in and runs wild but whiffs on a flying body press. Del Ray then hits a gordbuster and Prichard comes off the top with a knee drop for the win (3:19).
Thoughts: Hype for not just the Bodies/Gunns feud but also for the upcoming Undertaker/IRS program. And speaking of The Bodies, Del Ray blew out his knee attempting a moonsault at the 10/28 Nassau Coliseum show in a match against The Gunns. Luckily, he only missed about a week of action. Prichard ended up wrestling singles matches against The Gunns in his partner’s absence.
WWF Live Event News segment to hype the Hart Attack Tour
Adam Bomb vs. Bob Starr
Bomb tosses Starr around as DiBiase yells about Bomb sticking his nose in Bigelow’s business. Bomb stays in control then hits an elbow drop as DiBiase assures us that there are no problems between Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka. Bomb then boots Starr in the gut then hits the Atom Smasher for the win (2:25).
Thoughts: They are going back to bringing up the Bomb/Bigelow feud. Also, DiBiase once again says that there is no issue between Bigelow/Tatanka and has been saying it enough to the point you expect one of them to turn on The Corporation, likely Bigelow since Tatanka just turned himself.
Tatanka w/ Ted DiBiase vs. Mike Moraldo
Gorilla once again refers to Tatanka as “Running Scared.” Tatanka rips up a Lex Luger poster on his way to the ring. Tatanka beats down Moraldo as Gorilla drones on about Tatanka being a sellout and a coward. Gorilla now plugs Razor Ramon vs. Yokozuna for RAW as Tatanka stays in control. DiBiase laughs over Moraldo getting destroyed as Gorilla now talks about the Tatanka/Luger feud. Moraldo attempts a comeback but Tatanka beats him back down then hits a flying chop for the win (3:40).
Thoughts: Long squash match with the same bit of Gorilla coming up with various ways to call Tatanka a traitor and a coward to hype the Tatanka/Luger feud.
Replay of Pink being debuted on “Superstars.”
An ad to hype the Action Zone.
Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart w/ Owen Hart vs. Corey Student
Neidhart immediately attacks Student then tosses him outside. Owen taunts Student and yells that he is a coward just like Bulldog and Bret. The crowd chants for Bret as Owen says they want Bret too as Owen once again messes with Student. Neidhart slams Student as Gorilla plugs the Hart Attack tour then Neidhart uses a Camel’s Clutch for the win (3:06).
Thoughts: Owen was great here on the outside as the Hart Family feud continues.
Replay of Backlund attacking Arnold Skaaland from “Superstars.”
1-2-3 Kid vs. Nick Barberry
Kid uses a shoulder block but Barberry catches Kid with a hip toss. Barberry overpowers Kid briefly but Kid comes back with a few kicks. The announcers talk about RAW as Kid hits a running leg drop then a suplex. Barberry avoids a dropkick then Gorilla said Minn handed him a note saying on RAW an “important announcement will be made about an upcoming WWF event.” I’m on the edge of my seat. Barberry stays in control but Kid fights back and hits a spinning heel kick for the win (2:58). DiBiase then flips out about not knowing this info on RAW.
Thoughts: Kid is always mentioned as part of the New Generation but without a feud or any real direction. And the announcement certainly seems like it is going to be something for the Survivor Series, which is a month away and not a single thing has been announced so if that’s the case then why not bring it up by name instead of being vague?
Live Event News
Next week in action are Lex Luger, The Bushwhackers, King Kong Bundy, Doink, and Mr. Bob Backlund. Plus, an interview with Yokozuna.
Final Thoughts: Once again we are without an exclusive segment this week. The only news was learning about some match will be announced on RAW that will take place at some other date and time. So, Challenge is not exactly appointment viewing at the moment nor will it be until the show ends next year.
