Opening montage.
Match 1: Scott “Hog” Irwin” (w/ Gen. Skandor Akbar) versus Mike Reed
Highlights:
- In a funny bit, Mercer questioned what type of swine Scott represented. Methinks either producer Keith Mitchell or director Dan Bynum informed him that Hog represented Scott’s taste for motorcycles. HA!
- Scott delivered a big boot for 2.
- When he followed with an elbow smash, Scott missed an elbow drop.
- He then backdropped Reed and hit a leg drop for 2.
- As Reed made a comeback, he gave Scott a cross corner whip but came up empty on his follow-through.
- Scott then hoisted Reed atop the top turnbuckle and superplexed him.
- 1-2-3.
- Scott won.

Summary: Showcase match for Scott.
Prior to the next match, Mercer shills Requiem to a Champion.
Match 2: Buddy Roberts versus George Weingeroff
Highlights:
- Roberts guillotined Weingeroff with the top rope, mounted the second turnbuckle, and landed a flying elbow smash for 2.
- As he suplexed Weingeroff, Roberts got another 2.
- Roberts then missed a pair of elbow drops, so Weingeroff scored with a mule kick.
- When he backdropped Roberts, Weingeroff followed with an atomic drop for 1.
- Roberts then bulldogged Weingeroff for 2.
- After Weingeroff escaped a slam attempt, he hooked an abdominal stretch.
- He then took Roberts down and pinned him.
- UPSET CITY!

Summary: The underdog story in wrestling never gets old, and the Dallas faithful loved watching Roberts lose again. He’s such a bully!
Following a commercial break, we revisit the final to the Texas title tournament held in San Antonio on 6/24. While Mercer is unsure of how Hernandez won the title, it appears that Kerry interfered causing Hernandez to defeat “Nature Boy” Ric Flair by disqualification. Within the clip, Kerry gorilla-press-slams Flair, but Hernandez WHACKS Kerry with the Texas title belt.
We then head to Highland Park, TX where Mercer interviews Hernandez by the pool. While two bathing beauties pamper him, Hernandez cuts a promo on the Von Erichs and strives to become World champion.
Before the next match begins, Kerry enters the ring, grabs the microphone, and challenges Hernandez. During his rebuttal, Hernandez accepts the challenge and brawls with Kerry. In fact, Kerry lands a discus punch to the EXTREME delight of the Dallas faithful.
Match 3 (non-title): NWA American & Texas champion the “Halfsome Half-Breed” Gino Hernandez versus Chief Jules Strongbow
Highlights:
- With Hernandez lathered up, Strongbow took control and dropkicked him.
- Upon tossing him to the floor, Hernandez guillotined Strongbow with the top rope.
- Strongbow rebounded with a double knee drop for 2.
- When he gave Hernandez a cross corner whip, Strongbow chopped him down like a cherry tree.
- Hernandez then used Strongbow’s own momentum against him and hooked an inside cradle.
- 1-2-3.
- Hernandez won.

Summary: The action before the bell was more exciting than the match.
During Hernandez’s exit, he mouths off to some fans and knocks a cap off of one of them. How dastardly!
Match 4: Kevin Von Erich & “Gentleman” Chris Adams versus Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy & Killer Khan
Highlights:
- The match began during introductions while Gordy provided Kevin with a swinging neckbreaker.
- As the Dallas faithful LOUDLY chanted “go Kevin, go,” Khan tagged in and unleashed a backbreaker upon their hero.
- Khan then delivered a knee drop for 2.
- When he gave Kevin a cross corner whip, Khan came up empty on his follow-through.
- Kevin then slammed Khan and attempted an Iron claw.
- After Khan blocked it, Gordy mounted the top turnbuckle and lowered the boom on Kevin.
- Meanwhile, Adams distracted referee David Manning.
- Kevin rebounded with a back drop, mounted the second turnbuckle, and launched a missile dropkick.
- As tags were exchanged on both sides, Gordy scored with a big boot to Adams.
- Khan tagged in, double-chopped Adams, and got 2.
- When he slammed Adams, Khan missed a leg drop.
- Adams then landed a superkick and dropkicked Khan for 2.
- After Gordy tagged in, he slammed Adams, mounted the top turnbuckle, but ate a shot to the midsection.
- Kevin tagged in and backdropped Gordy.
- As Gordy reversed an Irish whip, he nailed Kevin with a NASTY clothesline.
- Khan tagged in and threatened the Asiatic spike.
- However, Kevin countered with an Iron claw.
- Gordy attempted to interfere, but an Adams superkick sent him flying out of the ring.
- When Roberts stormed the ring, he removed his boot and WHACKED Kevin in the head. OUCH!
- Manning then called for the bell to disqualify Gordy and Khan.
- As a result, Kevin and Adams won.
Rating: ***
Summary: Exciting tag match as all four wrestlers’ styles mesh well, and they told a good story until the Freebird finish. Roberts’ earlier loss makes sense now.
After the match, Kerry reappears to even the odds while Kevin is BUSTED OPEN. With Khan still in the ring, the babyfaces supplied him with a triple dropkick. Wow! Gordy isn’t finished so he re-enters the ring only to eat a triple dropkick too.
Conclusion: Kevin and Adams got the better of the Freebirds this time with some help from Kerry. Speaking of Kerry, it looks like he’s in line for either an American or Texas title shot. Say what you will about his 18-day stint as World champion, but keeping him atop the promotion is key for WCCW. Daniel-san, how highly do you rank this episode?
