–Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan are doing commentary and they are taped from Orlando, Florida.
–The Nasty Boys (42-6-3) defeat Buddy Valentine & Johnny Swinger when Brian Knobbs pins Swinger after the Nasty Splash at 2:20:
Schiavone says that the Nasties keep winning every week to move up the tag team ranks even though the Nasties have only wrestled three times in the last ninety days. Valentine and Swinger are unable to counter the Nasties brawling, with Swinger succumbing to the Nasty Splash.
–The Shark (w/Kevin Sullivan & Meng) (4-3-1) pins Vern Henderson after the Shark Attack at 2:51:
The most recent exhibition of WCW’s taping schedule messing with existing stories is on display here as Meng – still clad in dragon mask – accompanies the Shark to the ring despite costing the Shark a match against Lex Luger the day before Halloween Havoc. Or maybe the Shark is a forgiving guy (or incredibly stupid). Schiavone hypes the Shark as a threat in the World War 3 battle royal, but in actuality no one has been threatened by the Shark in months. This is a boring squash that prevents the Shark from going below .500.
–Gene Okerlund interviews Sergeant Craig Pittman, who says the World War 3 battle royal is the element that he has been waiting for in WCW. Okerlund struggles not to call Pittman “a jarhead.”
–In the World War 3 Control Center, Lex Luger vows to tie up loose ends against Randy Savage. Savage responds by saying that he is going to grab the brass ring and end Luger’s WCW career. The background for these segments is jarring. It looks like WCW took the World War 3 logo and stretched it too much.
–Call 1-900-909-9900 to find out who the other giant will be in the World War 3 battle royal!
–Diamond Dallas Page (w/the Diamond Doll) (20-3-2) pins Cobra (5-6) after pushing Cobra off the ropes at 2:57:
Heenan jokes that Cobra’s Morse Code theme is Nick Bockwinkel’s pacemaker and then says that his dog tags might fetch a lucky fan seven dollars a local pawn shop. Page’s thirteen-million-dollar storyline has not advanced much since the summer, something Schiavone attributes to Page possibly blowing the fortune. After some basic action, Sergeant Craig Pittman plays Cobra’s theme music and provides an entrance distraction in war paint, allowing Page to push Cobra off the ropes and win. The crowd was into the action and died with the finish, which also made Cobra look like an idiot.
–Okerlund interviews V.K. Wallstreet, who gives a shout out to Ted DiBiase’s “everyone has a price” line, causing Okerlund to nearly drop his microphone. Wallstreet says he plans to use his money to buy influence in the World War 3 battle royal. Aside from Okerlund’s funny antics, this promo made Wallstreet look like a second rate Million Dollar Man.
–Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Brian Pillman defeat Tim Horner, Steve Armstrong & Scott Armstrong when Flair pins Scott after a figure-four leg lock at 8:46:
The glorified jobbers have eight wins between the three of them for 1995, so this is clearly a mismatch. Things start hot, with Steve and Scott keeping Flair off balance and doing the same with Pillman. However, things start going too long and kill the interest of the crowd when the Horseman do a long heat segment on Horner. Scott makes an incredibly slow entry into the match after a blind tag, triggering the all-out brawl where Horner is thrown over the top rope, Scott eats a spinebuster out of nowhere, and Flair pins Scott with the figure-four. Rating: *½
–Tune in next week to see Hacksaw Jim Duggan face Big Bubba Rogers! Also, Paul Orndorff will be in action!
The Last Word: This was a very boring show with a main event that would draw little interest because the outcome was never in doubt. Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, and Brian Pillman do work well as a team, though, and have the potential to be a fun heel stable.
