Rick Rude as a face?

Watching Halloween Havoc 92 and reading your rant and you suggest an angle after Vader, who is defending the US title for Rude, beats Koloff. Rude comes back to get his title and Vader tells him to fuck off, and Rude turns face. Could a Rude face turn have even worked back then? I'm not sure the world (outside of Philadelphia maybe) was ready to cheer Rick Rude in 1992 quite yet. Maybe in the Attitude Era if he was still active/alive, I don't know. Come to think of it did Rude EVER work as a face in his career?

Yup, he worked as a babyface job guy early in his career between Memphis and Mid-South and he was terrible at it. That being said, yes, I think the world would have been ready for babyface Rude by 94 and he could have made it work.
