Wrestlers refusing to work shows?

By Scott Keith on 31 October 2018

With Daniel Bryan and John Cena (apparently) refusing to work in Saudi Arabia at "Crown Jewel", I was wondering if you know how that works in terms of wrestlers/talents contracts? What I mean is can the WWE fire them or anyone for refusing to work a show for whatever reasons, or is it just a matter of they won't get paid for missing that particular show?

I don't know the specifics, but I'd like to THINK that firing someone for refusing to work the Saudi show would be a horrifying backfire on them from a PR standpoint should they choose to do so. I think that technically, yes, it would be grounds for a breach of contract suit, though.
