No Successful Champion?

By Scott Keith on 3 March 2018

Scott,

You stated in an earlier question about Seth Rollins’ decline that “I think that Vince lost faith in him (Rollins) after the WWE title run wasn't a huge success.”

Is there even an environment where a guy’s championship run can be considered successful in terms of drawing ratings, live attendance, etc? They all seem to do about the same while the company just finds new avenues to make money.
To be honest, I have no idea how they even judge success or failure these days, outside of house show and other live attendance. I think that's what ultimately killed off Jinder – the embarrassing SmackDown TV arenas. Seth seemed to be the same, where RAW house show numbers dropped with him on top and as a result he didn't get it back. It's silly because they don't advertise matches much ahead of time anyway, but that appears to be the metric regardless.
