So as noted on Instagram, my buddy James Dixon sent me a copy of WrestleTalk #1, his new wrestling magazine that is heavily influenced by the ones of the past. It’s a good looking mag, on heavy paper stock, and really feels premium. At the moment, it’s all content and no ads, which is nice, although I don’t know how he can sustain that business model. There’s an extensive “In The News” section at the beginning (going up to No Mercy 2017 at the moment), reviews of the major TV shows, lots of coverage of the British wrestling scene (it’s a UK-based publication), a lot at the awesome “Unreleased” DVD that I loved so much, and tons more. My favorite piece was an obituary of Bobby Heenan, written by Justin Henry. And there’s also a “State of the wrestling world” article breaking down each promotion and what the strengths and weaknesses of each are at the moment. Tremendous stuff, reminds me a lot of Fighting Spirit, which I did some freelance work when they were around.
Check it out at wrestletalk.bigcartel.com, and I don’t know how to make a “pound” sign on a US keyboard but suffice it to say it’s 4.99 in British money for one issue, or 25.00 for one year. Print or digital versions available.
