Blood In The WWE

By Scott Keith on 3 March 2017

Hi Scott,

Any idea on why the WWE dropped their policy on stopping the matches when a wrestler was bleeding and patched them up? I notice now that when there is blood in a match the ref puts on rubber gloves, but they don’t stop the match and do the aforementioned. I remember just prior to this the live audience on a couple of PPVs booed the hell out of a few matches being stopped so they could fix up the wrestler that was bleeding. Did this have anything to do with it? Thanks.

The ref was all up in Samoa Joe’s face at that Takeover show against Finn Balor, trying to stop the bleeding. I think it’s just a case-by-case basis, given how fickle Vince is about this stuff. If you’re a big enough star, there’s not much that the ref is going to be able to do about it.
