I don’t wanna job!

By Scott Keith on 27 February 2017

I keep hearing about performers being unwilling to do a job, although that seems to be less of a problem now than it used to be. And yet, they don’t seem to ever say no to really stupid angles or having their characters do things that are completely illogical and stupid. Seems to me that being in an awful angle with awful matches that you win is going to do a lot more damage to your career than putting someone over in an angle that sets the world on fire. Yet I rarely hear of wrestlers refusing to participate in awful storylines. Why is that? I would think that taking care of your character matters more than the win-loss record.

Normally you don’t hear about them turning down stupid storylines because that kind of thing gets squashed long before it ever makes it to the screen. But guys with enough clout to refuse jobs, like Steve Austin, are also well known for turning down ridiculous ideas as well. It’s just that by the time anyone hears about it, it’s already long dead.
