Brock’s Violation

By Scott Keith on 18 July 2016

> Scott,

> I don’t follow MMA and have little experience seeing athletes suspended outside of the WWE Wellness Policy. All the news I’ve seen around Brock’s test results call it a "potential" violation. My question is why is this just a potential violation, and how often do you see an incident like this in the UFC turn out to be in error?

It is considered potential because fighters provide two samples at the same time, A and B. They test A first and if something is flagged then USADA will test the B sample to eliminate the possibility of the A sample being contaminated or simple testing error or whatever. Once both samples comes back dirty, the hammer is dropped. Do errors happen? Yes, but not very frequently. Normally if it walks like a duck and shoots steroids in its ass like a duck, it’s a duck. And Brock is DUCKED.
