The 1980s WWF Numbers Game

If you had to divide it into percentages, how much would you credit the WWF 1980s boom to Hogan and how much to Vince’s promoting skills?

The actual boom? 80-20 Vince. Hogan could draw the houses and was a big part of getting mainstream exposure, but it didn’t HAVE to be Hogan for something like Wrestlemania or the MTV stuff to take off​. He was absolutely the right guy in the right place at the right time, but if Vince had gone with his emergency backup of Kerry Von Erich or whatever, he probably would have found a way to make it work. Look at it this way: Do you think the AWA would have taken off like the WWF did with Hogan still on top through 1987?
