Shane vs Taker Question

By Scott Keith on 20 June 2016

Scott,

You would think that a match between two stars of the Attitude Era—one a part-time wrestler gone for 8 years, and another getting up there in age–would have been the perfect time to bring back some overbooking.

Sting was around, Vince was heavily involved in the feud, Shawn/Austin/Foley were at the show…yet the match just went as a one-on-one. They even had a perfect template on how to cover up performers’ limitations from Sting/HHH the year before.

Being there live it was a really cool experience, but watching it back it just seemed like the match was a lot of laying around in between spots.

I had also assumed the match would be crazy overbooking and smoke and mirrors, and it probably should have been because it was ludicrous that Shane was taking the beating he did after more than a minute. Just another reason why it sucked.
