Tomohiro Ishii

Dynamite – November 23, 2022

23rd November 2022 by Thomas Hall

Dynamite
Date: November 23, 2022
Location: Wintrust Arena, Chicago, Illinois
Commentators: Taz, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur

It’s the first show after Full Gear and thanks to William Regal, MJF is the new World Champion. That is enough of a story to carry things for the time being, but we have more important things to get to right now: like building up a Ring Of Honor pay per view in the next few weeks. Let’s get to it.

New Japan Lonestar Shootout

29th September 2022 by Thomas Hall

Lonestar Shootout
Date: April 1, 2022
Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas
Attendance: 582
Commentators: Kevin Kelly, Matthew Rehwoldt

So this is an interesting one as it is part of the NJPW Strong promotion, but there were two shows taped here. First up was the Lonestar Shootout special, followed by a regular TV show. That wasn’t mentioned during the night so this will be split in two rather than the one night that I watched it live. Let’s get to it.

All Out 2022

4th September 2022 by Thomas Hall

All Out 2022
Date: September 4, 2022
Location: Now Arena, Chicago, Illinois
Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Taz

It’s time for the big night and in this show’s case, that means really big, as we have a whopping fifteen matches on the card. That alone is going to make this a busy night, but the question becomes what happens in the main event. CM Punk is challenging Jon Moxley despite having a bad foot as of last week. This could go in a few ways, and I’m not sure how well it is going to wind up. Let’s get to it.

Impact Wrestling – May 12, 2022

23rd May 2022 by Thomas Hall

Impact Wrestling
Date: May 12, 2022
Location: Promowest Pavilion, Newport, Kentucky
Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt

We’re done with Under Siege and that means we need a new #1 contender. Josh Alexander successfully defended the World Title against Tomohiro Ishii so now it’s time for something new. That means the return of the Gauntlet For The Gold, a huge gauntlet match, to crown a new #1 contender. Let’s get to it.

WrestleCon Supershow 2022

7th May 2022 by Thomas Hall

WrestleCon Supershow 2022
Date: March 31, 2022
Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas
Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Veda Scott

This is one of the biggest and most interesting shows of Wrestlemania Weekend as you do not know what you are going to get on any given show. Some of the matches are going to be announced in advance, but sometimes you are just going to get some wrestlers without opponents. This is the non-WWE ticket I make sure to get every year and this was no exception. Let’s get to it.

Impact Wrestling – May 5, 2022

6th May 2022 by Thomas Hall

Impact Wrestling
Date: May 5, 2022
Location: Majed J. Neshewat Convention Center, Poughkeepsie, New York
Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan

It’s the go home show for Under Siege, which has come up rather fast after Rebellion took place just a few weeks ago. Last week saw Tomohiro Ishii announced as the new #1 contender to Josh Alexander, which should be a nice trial by fire for the new champion. It’s time for the final push towards Under Siege so let’s get to it.

Rebellion 2022

25th April 2022 by Thomas Hall

Rebellion 2022
Date: April 24, 2022
Location: Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center, Poughkeepsie, New York
Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan

It’s back to pay per view for Impact and this time they have made me want to see what they have to offer. The main event is a long awaited showdown between Moose and Josh Alexander for the World Title, after Moose took the title at Bound For Glory and then went after Alexander’s family. The rest of the card looks pretty good too so let’s get to it.

Rampage – April 22, 2022

22nd April 2022 by Thomas Hall

Rampage
Date: April 22, 2022
Location: Petersen Events Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Commentators: Ricky Starks, Taz, Excalibur

We’re back on Friday this week as AEW has been trying to ramp this show up a bit more in recent weeks. That means more star power, and this week it means a title match as Jade Cargill is defending the TBS Title against Marina Shafir. We also have a pretty big showdown between Adam Cole and Tomohiro Ishii. Let’s get to it.

Impact Wrestling – April 7, 2022

17th April 2022 by Thomas Hall

Impact Wrestling
Date: April 7, 2022
Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas
Host: Josh Matthews

It’s a special week this time around as rather than building towards Rebellion with a regular show, we’re going to look at some of the Multiverse Of Matches card. The show was held over Wrestlemania Weekend but a lot of it had little to do with the upcoming pay per view. It should be fun for a one off though so let’s get to it.

Multiverse Of Matches

Multiverse Of Matches
Date: April 1, 2022
Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas
Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt

This was a show that got my attention as it has a pretty nice card with a lot of things going on. The idea is that there are multiple companies coming together with some representatives for some matches we might not have seen before. That should be enough, even if this is just a side trip on the way to Rebellion. Let’s get to it.

Wrestle Kingdom XVI Night One

6th January 2022 by Thomas Hall

Wrestle Kingdom XVI Night One
Date: January 4, 2022
Location: Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan
Attendance: 12,047
Commentators: Chris Charlton, Kevin Kelly

It’s back to Japan for the first time in about a year, though the company does feel a good bit colder this time around. The pandemic and a slew of injuries have battered New Japan, but this show’s reputation is more than enough to warrant a look. The main event of this first night is Kazuchika Okada challenging Shingo Takagi for the IWGP World Title, with the winner facing Will Ospreay tomorrow night. Let’s get to it.

Note that I do not regularly follow New Japan so I won’t know much in the way of storylines or recent character development. Please bear with me if I miss something that commentary does not explain.

Dynamite
Date: November 17, 2021
Location: Chartway Arena, Norfolk, Virginia
Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross

We’re done with Full Gear and Hangman Page is FINALLY the AEW World Champion. To say this is a long time coming is an understatement but now we get to see where things go from here. That could be in a variety of directions but this week is all about the big celebration. We have a long way to go before Revolution next year so let’s get to it.

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax – Night Sixteen – 08/08/2019

8th August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Back again with some action from the B Block!

I hope all my fellow English Soccer Fans enjoyed the close to the transfer window. Everton’s pursuit of Wilfried Zaha ended up becoming a bit of a farce, but Alex Iwobi is certainly an interesting signing and I’m hoping he’ll hit the ground running for The Toffees. I must admit to being slightly relieved that the Marcos Rojo deal didn’t go through. He’s played something like 14 games in the previous 2 seasons I believe and has had not only injury issues but also strikes me as a red card waiting to happen. On loan I could have handled it, but for 25 Million Man United were having a giraffe and Marcel Brands did well to walk away. It also gives an opportunity to Mason Holgate as well, and I genuinely think this could be a break out season for him, so it isn’t all doom and gloom.

I’m afraid Saturday’s G1 show won’t be up until at least Sunday because I’m heading down to Selhurst Park for the first game of the season. I might try and have both Saturday and Sunday’s shows up on Sunday night, but I make no promises. Everton tend to open the season quite a lot with 2-2 draws, so I’m looking forward to being 1-2 up with 10 minutes to go only for Palace to bundle in the equaliser and for both Home and Away supporters to trudge home wondering whether it was a good result or not. Ah, football eh?

Anyway, enough wittering on my part, let’s get to some chuffing wrestling!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Night Twelve (01/08/2019)

1st August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Back again with some B Block action

Currently Jon Moxley is way out in front in the Block and has managed to nullify all of the wrestlers he has faced in one way or another. It’s actually had a “Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe” feel to it in all honesty, where Dean Ambrose was the acceptable comedy version of Jonathon Good whilst Jon Moxley is what he’s capable of when he’s allowed to go all out. However, tonight he’s facing Toru Yano, a man who has a few upsets to his name during his G1 career, so maybe this will be the first time Mox tastes defeat in G1?

Let’s read on and find out shall we?

Rev Pro: New York
Date: April 5, 2019
Location: New York Hilton Midtown, New York City, New York
Commentators: Andy Boy Simmonz, Kevin Kelly

I’ve seen these guys twice live and had a good time with each of the shows so this was a must for the list. I don’t really follow their stories all that closely but I know enough of the names to keep up. This show will have a mixture of British wrestling and New Japan so it’s going to be quite the combination. Let’s get to it.

Revolution Pro Wrestling: New Orleans Live Report

10th April 2018 by Thomas Hall

One more indy show, just in case I haven’t had enough of them quite yet. Last year in Orlando I took a shot at the Revolution Pro Wrestling show despite not having known much about the promotion. The lineup looked good though and the show wound up being a lot of fun. It was enough to get me to go again this year and again, it wound up being a good afternoon of wrestling.

WrestleCon 2018 (With Pictures)

10th April 2018 by Thomas Hall

Odds are you’ve heard of Axxess. It’s the big fan festival put on by WWE every year over Wrestlemania weekend where you can see memorabilia and meet wrestlers etc. However, there’s another version run independently from WWE called WrestleCon, which offers a bunch of wrestling shows but also a huge convention with hundreds of wrestlers and vendors selling autographs, merchandise and photo ops for pretty reasonable prices. You can also just walk up and talk to almost anyone you want (line permitting of course) and have a chat (some longer than others).
