Greatest under five minute match of all time? Shame it doesn’t have a little bit better commentary…
Definitely one of my favorite short matches ever.

Speaking of dream matches that actually did happen…
I wouldn’t call it “great” by any means, but this is a combination you sure don’t see much of. Bret actually wrote about this one in his book, as he had feared working with Andre for years over heat they used to have. As it turned out, Andre was a total professional here.
Here’s a pretty famous one for you.

Probably the best match of Ron Garvin’s title reign. Given what has happened in the last 25 years, I don’t think that he was nearly as bad a champion as you always say he was…
Well we know how you love Ron Garvin, Joe. Still, obviously he’s no Vince Russo or David Arquette, so there’s that.
TAkA Vs HHH by PWF
Given the “anything can happen” environment at the time, interference from Funaki, The APA, Bossman, Buchanan, Shane, and Vince, my friends and i knew this was a squash, but there was that excitement as the match was on live of “Holy shit, Taka might actually win it”. It doesn’t hold up all that well now 12 years later, but very few matches had that crazy “what if” factor. This was one of them.
Oh yeah, watching it live was definitely an exercise in cardiac arrest. That missile dropkick spot nearly killed me.
I think this was the one that you described as both Kane and Albert’s best match (at least in WWF/WWE), and that they had “freaky good chemistry together”. I hope we get a Kane vs Tensai match one day to see if they can duplicate the feat.
Yeah, it was really one of the most unexpectedly great matches I’ve seen. Kane v. Angle was even better, so maybe Kane was just on a roll in the early part of the decade.
Like that 6-man match at Barely Legal? Here’s a 10-man from Michinoku Pro with the entire Kaientai team taking on the babyfaces and ripping it up for the fastest 35 minutes you’ll ever see. Another one of my all-time favorite matches and an easy *****. MPro tapes used to be the best part of my week in the 90s.
Old school Crockett goodness, daddy.
Has this already been posted before?
The much talked about Action Zone match. Diesel & Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon & 1-2-3 Kid Oh man, this is one of my all-time favorite randomly great tag matches, up there with Shawn/Austin v. Bulldog/Owen in 97. Fine choice. Shawn was carrying anything with two legs to *** while basically being Diesel’s MANAGER. I was all about Shawn & Diesel at this point. Anyway, I’m pretty sure I’ve posted this before in the old days, but I’ve got no beef with posting it again.
This might be one of the great “forgotten” matches in WWE/F history as you never hear about it in any “greatest” polls, but it truly is a great match with a hot crowd:

Sadly, WWE.com videos are not available to view for people of a Canadian persuasion, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this one and it was great.
If you need a great random match, just call Flair and Windham in 1986. This is from Battle of the Belts 2, not their best one, but still *****-ish. The one on the original Flair DVD is still one of the best.
I think the blog would really appreciate this rare match featuring World Champion Ted DiBiase / Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan / Bam Bam Bigelow. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3iy7g_hulk-hogan-bam-bam-bigelow-vs-andre_sport?search_algo=2#.UOiRk-TLTbg
Sweetness. For those who don’t know, this is the only existing footage known of Ted Dibiase with the WWF World title following the Main Event in 88.
