In this case, that would mean the announcement of which New Day member will be participating in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, along with the stipulation for AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. It’s Money in the Bank season and qualifying matches are in the air. Last night’s Monday Night Raw saw three qualifying matches and tonight Smackdown will equal that amount with three matches already announced. Unfortunately they’re not the most intriguing matches but at least they’re getting them out of the way early. Let’s get to it.

It’s time to change things up a lot with the first half of the Superstar Shakeup. In case you didn’t get enough new names last week, this time around we should be getting a bunch of Smackdown names heading over to the red show. How will the names be picked? Who might be coming? That’s not important enough to announce in advance so let’s get to it.

As usual, this could be the most interesting show of the year. Tonight could be filled with major angles, returns and surprises, all of which could become big deals in a hurry. Or it could be all about Roman Reigns, who managed to not win the Universal Title from Brock Lesnar last night. Let’s get to it.
–Jim Ross and Todd Pettengill are in the booth and they are taped from Portland, Maine. This was the same site as the recent Superstars tapings as the company was reducing television tapings due to budget cuts.
–A video package hypes tonight’s Shawn Michaels-Jerry Lawler main event by playing up King Mabel’s attack on Michaels at the end of last week’s show. Lawler tells Michaels that he is not superman and that he will finish what Mabel started on tonight’s broadcast.
–Vince McMahon and Ted DiBiase are doing commentary and they are live from Worcester, Massachusetts. The tapings drew a sold out crowd of 4,500 fans according to thehistoryofwwe.com. This RAW also debuts a new entr
–Vince McMahon recaps Men on a Mission beating down the Smoking Gunns back in March because both teams are facing each other in today’s feature match.
–McMahon and Dok Hendrix are doing commentary and they are taped from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
–Vince McMahon recaps how Shawn Michaels and Jeff Jarrett had an altercation at the end of last week’s show after Jarrett defended the Intercontinental title against Savio Vega.
–Sid and Bam Bam Bigelow cut promos against each other for tonight’s feature match. Sid promises to give Bigelow a Ph.D. in pain, while Bigelow promises to set Sid on fire, with a fireball included as part of the promo.
–McMahon and Jerry Lawler, who is guzzling what is supposed to be mouth wash, are doing commentary and they are still in Danville, Pennsylvania.
–Jim Ross and Todd Pettengill are in the booth and they are kicking off a new set of tapings in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The tapings were held on June 28, 1995.
–Ross and Pettengill recap the Bret Hart-Jerry Lawler “kiss my foot” match at The King of the Ring. The audience gets another viewing of Lawler hyping his dentist, Isaac Yankem, D.D.S, who he says is coming to the WWF to get some revenge on Bret.

It’s the go home Raw for No Way Out and thankfully Scott Steiner vs. HHH II doesn’t feel like it’s anywhere near the biggest thing on the show anymore. Unfortunately what is the biggest story on this show is the chance that Steve Austin will be here on Sunday, which leaves a bunch of talking and nothing to see building up to the show. I know the others are just window dressing around the HHH vs. Shawn match but would at least giving us a reason to believe something is possible be that much to ask? Let’s get to it.

This show comes in with a very simple advantage: it’s not the Katie Vick episode. There have been well over 1000 episodes of Monday Night Raw (we’ll hit #500 by the end of 2002) and last week’s might have been absolute rock bottom. There have been horrible shows before, but even the 1993/1994 episodes mainly focused on wrestling. Last week focused on sexual intercourse with a mannequin in a casket. Something tells me this one will be an improvement. Let’s get to it.
