New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – Final Night

18th October 2020 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Well, we’ve had one heck of a tournament with lots of great matches and now it’s time to tie things off with a nice bow, with A Block Winner Kota Ibushi taking on B Block Winner SANADA.

Let’s find out who will be taking home the bacon!

You can read Rick’s review of the Final Night of B Block by clicking right HERE

Rick should also be doing a review of this particular show as well, so keep a look out for that!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – 16/10/2020 – A Block Night Nine

16th October 2020 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Here we are, it’s time for the Final Night of A Block, with Jay White, Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi all having a chance to win it (Although there may be an outside way for Will Ospreay to still manage it somehow, which will probably happen now just to make me look dumb. I could take this bit out of course, but I’ll leave it in, just for the craic)

My pick is Kota Ibushi, but I’ve enjoyed Okada’s run so much that I’ve decided I’d like him to win the Block. So expect a Jay White victory then!

Rick’s been doing a sterling job with the B Block and you can read his review of Night Eight by clicking right HERE

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – 13/10/2020 – A Block Night Eight

13th October 2020 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Cheers to all who said kind words last time out. Had a chat with my mum today and her temperature is pretty much back to normal and she felt well enough to go in the garden for a bit, so here’s hoping she’s past the worst of it.

I’m still in isolation, but I’ve thankfully had no COVID-19 symptoms thus far, so hopefully I should be able to get out and about as soon as my 14 days are up.

Anyway, we’re into the final two nights of A Block now, with a number of workers tied on 10 points. You’d think something would have to give in this round, so let’s see what happens!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – 10/10/2020 – A Block Night Seven

10th October 2020 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

More G1 action, and you can read Rick’s review of Night Six of B Block by clicking right HERE

It’s been an interesting week for me. As mentioned in the last A Block review, it was my birthday mid-week so I decided to spend it with my support bubble (If you live on your own in the UK then you’re allowed to visit one other household under the pandemic restrictions), of which my mum is a member.

However, my mum has since come down with COVID-19, which means I’m in isolation for 14 days. Thankfully I can do my entire day job from home and I’ve not shown any symptoms myself as of this writing, which hopefully stays the case. I’m missing my daily walk though, as it was how I got my exercise and cleared my head.

I’m worried about my mum though as she has asthma, which puts her in a high risk category, and I’ve been checking in on her regularly via phone. She’s still keeping to her bed but her temperature is going down at least. I’ve not been tested myself as the guidelines just say to isolate unless you get symptoms, and I’ve got a food delivery booked in for tomorrow, so I’m ready to hunker down. I’ve already had four days in isolation as I decided to play it safe the minute I was told she had symptoms, so just 10 left now and I’ll be released back into polite society.

So with that out of the way, let’s watch some chuffing wrestling so I can take my mind off it all.

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – 07/10/2020 – A Block Night Six

Let’s get to another night of A Block action. We’re in the second half of the fixtures now, as A Block is really taking shape.

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – 05/10/2020 – A Block Night Five

5th October 2020 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Make sure to check out Rick’s review of Night Four of B Block by clicking right HERE

It’s another day of G1, and I’ve been loving it thus far. By the time this gets uploaded I will be another year older. With Everton top of the table too. What a time to be alive!

I should point out that they’ve uploaded the Keiji Mutoh Vs Yuji Nagata G1 Final from 2001 up as a free video on NJPW World. If you’ve never seen it then I strongly suggest you do so, as it features some sublime technical wrestling and does an excellent job highlighting why Mutoh ended up winning wrestler of the year for 2001.

Anyway, enough chatter, let’s watch some chuffing wrestling!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – 30/09/2020 – A Block Night Four

30th September 2020 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Time for Night Four of A Block!

You can read Rick’s review of Night Three by clicking HERE

It’s been a wacky week here in the UK music wise, where my fellow Everton supporters, in high spirits due to a good start to the season, decided to knock Miley Cyrus off the top of the iTunes charts by buying a number of Everton related songs, with “Spirit of the Blues”, a song from our hot period in the 80’s, being the one that started it all going. A really nice aspect of it all is that one of the writers of the song (Kenny Parry) was going through a rough period due to losing his wife in recent years, and the song getting in the charts has really made his week, which makes it a win however you want to slice it I think.

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 30 – 19/09/2020 – A Block

19th September 2020 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Please make sure to check out Rick’s excellent G1 Climax preview for the skinny on what’s taking place in the tournament this year.

I would have had this up earlier, but I had a nice trip to Clitheroe in the afternoon, so apologies for the delay.

I’ll be taking on A Block this year whilst Rick takes on B Block, so look out for his reviews when they go up also.

Great to be tagging with someone this year as it should hopefully make the workload easier to bare and I think it will be interesting to get two perspectives on things.

I haven’t got a clue who will win G1 this year, but I’ll go with Kota Ibushi as they were making him look like the star in the team with Tanahashi on the Summer Struggle Tour, which suggested a passing of the guard, and Ibushi Vs Naito at Wrestle Kingdom would be pretty rad.

So, without further ado, let’s start off Night One of A Block and watch some chuffing wrestling!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Final Night – 12/08/2019

12th August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

So here we are, after eighteen nights of action and however many stars, we’re here for the Final of G1 Climax 29. Who will leave the Nippon Budokan with the fabled G1 Trophy and a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Champ at Wrestle Kingdom on the 4th of January 2020? Will it be the devious Jay White? Will it be the Golden Star Kota Ibushi? Will White’s unscrupulous manager Gedo ultimately decide the fate of the Trophy? Will Ibushi be able to overcome the numbers game to win his first G1? Will the Title shot even be on 04/01/2020 or will it be on the 5th instead because they’re running the Tokyo Dome on consecutive nights next year? Will the G1 Final attain a 5 Star rating? Lemon Curry?

The suspense is killing me; let’s watch the ruddy show right chuffing now!!!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Nights Seventeen and Eighteen – 10/08/2019 and 11/08/2019

11th August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

You lucky so and so’s get a two for one this time out as I was in London yesterday to watch Everton play out a bleh 0-0 with Crystal Palace, of which the only “highlight” was Morgan Schneiderlin getting sent off like an absolute plum. Oh well, a point Away on the first day of the season isn’t too bad I suppose.

Anyway, enough of that, we’ve got a lot to the get through so let’s waste no more time!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax – Night Sixteen – 08/08/2019

8th August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Back again with some action from the B Block!

I hope all my fellow English Soccer Fans enjoyed the close to the transfer window. Everton’s pursuit of Wilfried Zaha ended up becoming a bit of a farce, but Alex Iwobi is certainly an interesting signing and I’m hoping he’ll hit the ground running for The Toffees. I must admit to being slightly relieved that the Marcos Rojo deal didn’t go through. He’s played something like 14 games in the previous 2 seasons I believe and has had not only injury issues but also strikes me as a red card waiting to happen. On loan I could have handled it, but for 25 Million Man United were having a giraffe and Marcel Brands did well to walk away. It also gives an opportunity to Mason Holgate as well, and I genuinely think this could be a break out season for him, so it isn’t all doom and gloom.

I’m afraid Saturday’s G1 show won’t be up until at least Sunday because I’m heading down to Selhurst Park for the first game of the season. I might try and have both Saturday and Sunday’s shows up on Sunday night, but I make no promises. Everton tend to open the season quite a lot with 2-2 draws, so I’m looking forward to being 1-2 up with 10 minutes to go only for Palace to bundle in the equaliser and for both Home and Away supporters to trudge home wondering whether it was a good result or not. Ah, football eh?

Anyway, enough wittering on my part, let’s get to some chuffing wrestling!

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Night Fifteen – 07/08/2019

7th August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

We’re back with some more A Block Action, the Block that has been making all the other Blocks jealous!

Last time out in the A Block Kazuchika Okada and SANADA had a fantastic bout that I went all in with a ***** rating for the first time in this year’s G1 Climax tournament. Tonight Okada takes on SANADA’s regular tag team partner in the form of EVIL. Will he be able to get another ****+ match this time out?

Let’s settle in and find out shall we?

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Night Fourteen – 04/08/2019

4th August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Back again with some action from the B Block!

Night Thirteen produced a match that I personally gave the full ***** to in the form of Kazuchika Okada Vs SANADA. Not everyone agreed of course, and that’s absolutely fine. This is all subjective at the end of the day, but it tickled me just right and I decided to go for the full allocation of stars as consequence.

Hopefully we have some more great matches and I can dish out some more stars, wouldn’t that be nice eh?

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Night Thirteen – 03 08 2019

3rd August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

We’re back with some more A Block Action, a Block which has been described as, and I quote, “Lovely Stuff”. Not my words everyone, but the words of Shakin’ Stevens!

Here we are with Night Thirteen, and I wonder who will have an unlucky Round 7 in the A Block? Kazuchika Okada currently sits atop the Block with a perfect record and looks as untouchable as Newcastle United did during the Christmas of 1995. However, that eventually all ended going a bit wrong for The Magpies, so Okada being top right now doesn’t guarantee he still will be when all is said and done.

I’m excited to see what happens next, so why don’t we watch some wrestling and find out eh?

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Night Twelve (01/08/2019)

1st August 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

Back again with some B Block action

Currently Jon Moxley is way out in front in the Block and has managed to nullify all of the wrestlers he has faced in one way or another. It’s actually had a “Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe” feel to it in all honesty, where Dean Ambrose was the acceptable comedy version of Jonathon Good whilst Jon Moxley is what he’s capable of when he’s allowed to go all out. However, tonight he’s facing Toru Yano, a man who has a few upsets to his name during his G1 career, so maybe this will be the first time Mox tastes defeat in G1?

Let’s read on and find out shall we?

New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Climax 2019 – Night Eleven – 30/07/2019

30th July 2019 by Michael Fitzgerald

Hello You!

We’re back with some more A Block Action!

This year’s G1 has featured some fantastic wrestling thus far but hasn’t produced a 5 Star Classic by my watch yet. I’d love it if we could get one before the tournament comes to a close, but in general I’d say the standard of this year’s G1 has been excellent and every night has had at least 1 or 2 matches that  I would consider “need to see”, with some nights even having more than that!

But anyway, less of me spinning some yarns, let’s watch some chuffing wrestling eh?

Hello You!

Back again with some B Block action

Had a bit of an issue with this one due to the internet in rural Wales being a tad unpredictable, but I finally managed to get it to work long enough to take this one in.

Anyway, let’s get rolling and enjoy ourselves some New Japan!
