Tony Khan Addresses WWE Scheduling Shows Opposite AEW

Tony Khan has reacted to WWE scheduling shows against AEW shows in what seems to be an attempt to hurt their pay-per-view numbers.
Tony Khan spoke in an interview with Scott Johnson on Going Ringside and was asked about his thoughts on WWE’s current strategy of scheduling shows head-to-head with AEW shows in an attempt to hurt their pay-per-view numbers, and said that despite the fierce competition, they have been able to still be successful. Khan stated:
“Well, we’ve been having a great year. We’ve been able to stick and move and make it work really well for us. There’s always going to be tough competition, and this sport, it’s very tough competition, the kind of competition that makes you work really hard 52 weeks a year.”
Khan said that, despite the competition, their shows have had great ratings and that the viewership figures for Dynamite and Collision are higher this year than the same time last year, which is the opposite of what analysts had predicted.
What Recent Shows Have WWE Ran Head-To-Head Against Tony Khan’s AEW?
WWE has been running NXT PPVs against Tony Khan’s AEW, having run NXT Battleground against Double or Nothing on May 25, The Great American Bash against All In on July 12, Heatwave against Forbidden Door on August 24, and they ran the main brand PPV Wrestlepalooza against All Out on September 20.
There are currently no more PPVs that are scheduled against each other for the rest of the year, as of writing, and despite WWE’s attempts, the buyrates for AEW’s PPVs are up from last year on the shows that they ran head-to-head against, possibly meaning that WWE’s attempts to hurt AEW’s figures have not worked.
