The Undertaker Explains His Philosophy Of Wrestling
By Craig Ballantyne on 15 September 2025
The Undertaker has laid out his wrestling philosophy, explaining that it isn’t about the moves.
The Undertaker had one of the greatest careers in WWE history. Over the course of 30 years, The Deadman captured seven World Championships and built a 21-match WrestleMania winning streak that will never be matched.
During an appearance on The Nightcap, Undertaker explained that the key to becoming and staying a top star isn’t about the actual wrestling, but being able to make fans care.
“You have to have the ability to make somebody care, right? Bar none. There’s been a lot of guys that have made a lot of money that couldn’t wrestle a lick. I mean, if I’m being honest. But again, you put this in their hand, your edge of your seat, like, oh, right.
“That’s number one, you have to make, and you don’t have to love you. They can hate you, right? You have to be able to make people feel, yeah, a certain way, yes. And if you got that, everything can take care of itself.”
“Wrestling Isn’t About Wrestling Moves” – The Undertaker
The Undertaker is currently looking for future stars as a veteran on WWE LFG. One of the things he imparts on younger stars is that, while he believes modern wrestlers have incredible athleticism, wrestling is about trying to get fans invested in the characters and telling stories.
“That’s the gist of what we do. Oh yeah. We story tell and we try to get people invested in the characters.
“I tell people this a lot, especially the young guys, when you’re asking me earlier, wrestling isn’t about wrestling moves. Wrestling is about telling stories.
“We use the moves to help tell the story, but it’s all on a connection. And that’s the biggest thing, once that light bulb goes off, then you’ve got a good chance of doing well.”
