Paul Walter Hauser Calls For Wrestling Supershow On Saudi WrestleMania Weekend

By Craig Ballantyne on 7 October 2025

Paul Walter Hauser wants promoters to put their egos aside and create a “mega show” on the same weekend as WrestleMania 43.

On September 12th, WWE announced that WrestleMania 43 will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. WWE has a longstanding connection to the Kingdom, having entered into a 10-year partnership with its Ministry of Sport back in 2018, which commits them to hosting two PLEs a year.

The relationship is controversial with many fans due to Saudi Arabia’s poor human rights record and treatment of women and the LGBT community. This was reinforced when the first three events had to be held without any representation from the women’s division.

With WWE taking WrestleMania outside North America for the first time in 2027, and the controversy surrounding the choice of destination, Golden Globe-winning actor and pro wrestler Paul Walter Hauser believes there’s an opportunity for other companies to come together for a huge show in the US.

Speaking to TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Hauser said he wants to see the likes of AEW, Defy, and NJPW come together for a show in a 30,000-seat venue.

“You know what I would like to see? WrestleMania weekend in freaking Riyadh or wherever it is — I would love to see MLW, CMLL, New Japan, AEW, PROGRESS Wrestling, Defy, GCW, whoever, come together and do a mega show and sell out a 20,000, 30,000-seat place.”

The comedian and current Progress Proteus Champion is well aware that the biggest stumbling block to such a show would be ego, but he thinks this can be overcome.

“Just if all egos can go away and people can look less at the hierarchy and more about the value of being for each other and, you know, the enemy of my enemy is my friend — there’s a lot of big business to be done somewhere.

“You know, go sell out Des Moines, go sell out Chicago, anywhere. It’s all wide open because WrestleMania’s happening in Riyadh or whatever.”

Paul Walter Hauser Slams WWE Ticket Pricing

During the same interview, Paul Walter Hauser also touched on another controversial topic, WWE’s ever-increasing ticket prices. Hauser hit out at the strategy, saying there’s no “humanity” from a corporate perspective.

“Times are tougher than they used to be, but the prices are going up. There’s no real humanity from a corporate perspective. Whereas you can go to an AEW show or an MLW show for 15 to 40 bucks and have a decent seat.”

Do you agree that there’s a big opportunity for other promotions in holding a WrestleMania weekend supershow in 2027? Who would you like to see involved in such an event? Let us know your thoughts below!
