John Cena Makes Special Announcement For Saturday Night’s Main Event
By Craig Ballantyne on 11 November 2025
John Cena wants his final night as an active wrestler to be about paving the road ahead.
In John Cena’s WWE debut, he immediately made an impact when he took the fight to Kurt Angle in a display of “ruthless aggression.” Now, as his career comes to an end, Cena wants to give more stars the same opportunity he had over 23 years ago.
On December 13th, Cena will step in the ring for the last time on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Earlier in November, the 17-time World Champion announced that his final opponent would be determined by a tournament, and he wanted to see someone seize the opportunity the same way he did back in 2002.
John Cena Promises A Night Of Opportunity On December 13th
On the November 10th edition of Raw, Cena made another announcement, this time extending the opportunities even further by revealing the card on December 13th will feature exhibition matches between WWE stars and the rising stars of NXT.
“Thank you for being so gracious to allow me to make this announcement which means so much to me right here. On my last performance on December 13th, Saturday Night’s Main Event…it is a night to close one chapter, but it is also going to be a night of opportunity.
“Yes, that’s right, it’ll be my final in-ring performance, but also, it’s a chance to give people a time to shine and showcase their skills. It will be a night where main WWE roster superstars host exhibitions for the brightest NXT has to offer for the future of this business.”
Cena finished by saying the aim of his retirement tour has been to pave the road ahead as well as bring the curtain down on his own career.
“December 13th is about closing one chapter, but also, it is about paving the road ahead, and that’s what I want for this tour.”
