Joe Hendry Being Phased Out Of TNA

By Craig Ballantyne on 18 September 2025

Joe Hendry is reportedly being “largely phased out” of TNA TV and is expected to join WWE full-time in 2026.

Joe Hendry has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of TNA’s partnership with WWE NXT. The former TNA World Champion has been regularly featured on NXT TV since making his debut in June 2024 as part of a Battle Royal to determine the Number 1 Contender for the NXT Title.

Since then, the star has taken on the likes of Pete Dunne, Ethan Page, and Trick Williams on the developmental brand. Hendry made his main roster debut in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match, lasting just under four minutes before being eliminated by Roman Reigns. That April, the Scottish star also had his first WrestleMania moment, appearing as Randy Orton’s mystery opponent for the show. Despite being on the losing end of a short match, Hendry earned The Viper’s respect, getting a handshake before being dropped with an RKO.

Now, on The Takedown on SI, Jon Alba has reported that Hendry is in the process of being phased out of TNA, with his move to WWE seeming imminent.

“Multiple WWE and TNA sources tell The Takedown on SI that Hendry is in the process of being largely phased out of TNA programming and integrated more into WWE TV. The internal expectation across people in both companies is that he will be WWE-bound on a full-time basis by the beginning of 2026.”

Joe Hendry Still Under TNA Contract

Alba also noted that, although there has been speculation that Joe Hendry is already under a WWE contract, TNA President Carlos Silva has confirmed he is still signed to TNA. While many of his recent matches have been in WWE, it is expected that Hendry will still be used in TNA, but will be featured more prominently in NXT going forward.
